The
North Texas Chapter of the International Code
Council is a non-profit organization serving the
Code Official and the building industry. The
organization was founded in the early 70’s for
the benefit of the local Building Officials to
share information. While its membership was a
short list, the organization objective had been
to place the public welfare above all other
interests and to apply the special knowledge and
skill of the Building Official to the benefit of
all mankind.
Today, the
organization is represented by well over 130
municipal jurisdictions and 40 private
industries. The Chapter’s objective is to
develop, recommend, and promote uniform
regulations and legislation pertaining to
building construction, and to further encourage
uniformity in zoning practice and code
interpretation. The Chapter emphases are to
build up the prestige of the Building Official
by providing sufficient qualified personnel
adequately compensated and establish minimum
standards for the administration of a building
department. The membership continues to
investigate and discuss the principles
underlying the safety in construction; occupancy
and location of buildings and other related
structures.
The
Chapter supports the activities of the
International Code Council and continues
to promote and maintain building
regulations on a local level by promoting
quality training and information sharing. The
Chapter is a host to various activities and
participates in the Building Professional
Institute, BOAT, the ICC Code Development Forum
and other organizations. Its members serve
on various local, state and federal
committees and boards.
